This week is ‘packed to the rafters’ with joyful moments. First there was the birth of my fifth grand child and third grand daughter, Amelia Jane, on Tuesday, and today the birth of an e-book – Hope at Every Age – Developing an Appetite for Recovery. This e-book has been inspired by the interest in my first six months of blogs. I never cease to be amazed and inspired – and too often, shocked – by stories from families and people with eating disorders. The same goes for the issues that abound in the field of eating disorders. I hope I live to see consensus on at least the basic, front line treatments. I believe evidence from experience is as valuable as evidence from research. Our best researchers know this. My wish is that Amelia Jane’s generation will be offered immediate screening and attention if their parents so much as have a light grey shade of doubt that they might be exhibiting an eating disorder symptom. Many of your voices will be found within the pages of Hope at Every Age – Developing an Appetite for Recovery. Together and united, we are lighting the path for others who follow.
