Beware of ‘ED’ the marriage gatecrasher

My wedding day began with a bang. I fainted and hit the bathroom floor; gave my parents an awful fright.

I fainted on the morning of my wedding day in 1971. Not from nerves, but from hunger. Bang! When I ‘came around’, I found myself lying on my parents’ bed, with my mother fussing over me; I didn’t know what day it was. I was 20 years old and had been suffering anorexia and bulimia since age 11. Another 12 years would pass before I received a diagnosis.

It was ‘hell’ trying to survive those eating disorders, and then, took years to recover. The most important medicine is 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. I know this now. Everyone should know this now. Especially young women who are looking forward to their wedding day.

To be your true, beautiful self on this special day, eat normally – three meals and three snacks a day. The article to which Lori writes a heartfelt response turns my stomach. I mean, 41 years have passed since my wedding day; we have great research today that shows dieting is dangerous. Whether you have an eating disorder or not.

Females everywhere, rise up and say ‘no’ to these terribly dangerous diets that promise you the world but can rob you of your life. Love your husband and love your self. Eat. Don’t let ED walk down the aisle with you, as ‘he’ did with me.
