Our great line up of keynote speakers – comprising Professor Janet Treasure, Professor Daniel Le Grange and Professor Cynthia Bulik – between them will cover the spectrum of eating disorders – by this I mean that this conference is for everyone – from parents who are concerned their child may be developing an eating disorder and are wondering how to find out and what to do about it, to families who have been caring for a loved one ‘for years’ and want to learn what new research suggests is the way forward to recovery. For sufferers who are wanting to beat their illness, this is a great chance to attend with a family member, a partner, a recovery guide – someone who can learn with you and help you put your newfound knowledge into practice. Besides our international speakers, a great lineup of Australian researchers and therapists will share their knowledge too. Parents, carers and survivors of eating disorders will be on hand to chat with you and encourage networking – meeting others ‘in the same boat’ is wonderfully therapeutic. Eating disorders are horrid, extremely so, but the upside is that those of us caught up in this nightmarish illness have the opportunity to reach out to others and make new friends. Brisbane, here we come!
