Lynn Garvey
Lynn Garvey is a carer and passionate volunteer for Eating Disorders Families Australia (EDFA). Formed in 2017, EDFA is a national, not-for-profit, volunteer, carer-to-carer lived experience peer support organisation. Lynn helps co-ordinate the education program and day-to-day administration and support. She understands the psychological and physical distress of caring for a loved one with an eating disorder. Lynn has supported her 21-year-old daughter, Ruby, who has experienced anorexia nervosa, for more than eight years, through treatment as a young teenager and relapse as an adult. Over time, with strong support from her team and her family, Ruby is forging her own path to a full and meaningful life. Lynn is dedicated to helping other carers also navigate this difficult, frightening and often complex journey.
